In a devastating attack early this morning, an unspecified number of police officers were reportedly killed by armed gunmen in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State.

The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. in the Ebem-Asaga area, sending shockwaves through the community. Eyewitnesses revealed that panic-stricken residents fled their homes as the gunmen unleashed chaos, leaving the once-busy neighborhood largely deserted.

This attack follows another violent incident two days earlier, where two police officers assigned to Hon. Ginger Onwusibe, a House of Representatives member for Isiala-Ngwa North/South Constituency, were ambushed in Umuahia. One officer tragically lost his life, while another officer and a driver narrowly escaped.

Efforts to obtain an official response from the Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka, are still underway as details of the attack remain unclear.

The escalating violence has raised concerns about security in the region and calls for immediate intervention to restore peace and protect lives.
