The President of the Southern Nigeria Forum, Hon. Henry Nwanbueze, has called on youths to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu through prayer and unity rather than protests. At a meeting with state and zonal coordinators in Lagos on Thursday, Nwanbueze highlighted the potential dangers of protests and stressed the importance of constructive efforts.
Nwanbueze expressed appreciation for President Tinubu’s efforts in national development, especially the push for local government autonomy. He cautioned that protests could be hijacked by adversaries, leading to violence and chaos, referencing the EndSARS protests as an example.
“Protests, though a means of expressing dissatisfaction, often bring more harm than good,” Nwanbueze said. “We must remain calm and patient, giving President Tinubu the support and time he needs to rebuild our nation.”
He emphasized the importance of agricultural initiatives to combat hunger and create jobs. Comrade Segun Nelson, the organization’s Secretary General, echoed these sentiments, urging the youth to be more measured in their demands and encouraging the National Assembly to reduce its budget in support of the president.
Nwanbueze and Nelson’s appeals underscore the potential for peaceful and productive engagement in nation-building, encouraging Nigerian youth to contribute to the country’s stability and growth by supporting the government’s efforts.
