Super Eagles interim coach, Augustine Eguavoen, expressed confidence in his team’s ability to defeat any opponent following a 3-0 victory over the Cheetahs of Benin Republic in their 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier. The match took place at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Eguavoen praised the quality of the Super Eagles players, emphasizing their potential to face any team, though with due respect to their opponents. He attributed the victory to the tactical formation used, adding that the team’s flexibility in adopting various systems contributed to their success.

The coach also commended the defence’s performance and explained that the team had been training together for a week. Eguavoen’s interim appointment came after the Nigeria Football Federation’s deal with German coach Bruno Labbadia fell through due to complications with German tax regulations.
