On August 17, 2024, an Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon resulted in the deaths of ten people and injuries to three displaced Syrians. The attack occurred early Saturday when Israeli warplanes targeted a residential building in Wadi al-Kfour, Nabatieh district, with two air-to-ground missiles.

Rescue teams from the Civil Defense and Islamic Health Authority are still working to clear the rubble and transport the injured to hospitals in Nabatieh. The building was completely destroyed.

In addition to the airstrike, Israeli drones and warplanes conducted multiple raids on four villages and towns in southern Lebanon, and artillery shelling targeted eight areas along the border, causing significant damage.

The escalation in violence follows previous tensions along the Lebanon-Israel border, including a recent attack by Israel on Dahieh in Beirut’s southern suburbs, which killed a Hezbollah commander and seven civilians.
