The Nigerian Army has refuted allegations of illegally detaining a civilian at the Minna Military Cantonment. In a statement on Friday, Lt.-Col. Sani Uba, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for TRADOC, addressed claims published by an online medium accusing officers of arresting and detaining Deekae Sunday Kiaka, a dismissed Nigerian Airforce (NAF) personnel, over a food vendor dispute.
According to Uba, the case involves a report made by a food vendor, Miss Lynda Moses, who accused Kiaka of withdrawing ₦1.1 million from her bank account. Following the investigation, it was revealed that Kiaka had been impersonating a NAF sergeant and had a history of fraudulent activity.
The suspect, who requested the matter be settled within the military police, signed an undertaking to refund the stolen money. The army emphasized that the case will be handed over to the police once the ongoing investigation is concluded.
TRADOC condemned the misleading report, reaffirming its commitment to upholding integrity and discipline within its ranks.
