Prank Shaibu, an aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has strongly criticized Senate President Godswill Akpabio for his remarks regarding the nationwide protest scheduled for Thursday. According to Naija News, Akpabio commented that those wishing to protest should go ahead, while he and others would relax and enjoy their meal.
These comments were made during an event organized by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in Rivers State, just as the nation prepares for a protest against the rising inflation and cost of living crisis set to begin on August 1.
Shaibu took to his X handle to express his disapproval, labeling Akpabio’s statements as reckless and ill-timed. He suggested that security agents should focus on questioning Akpabio instead of targeting Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.
He wrote, “Is Akpabio perpetually in a state of bewilderment, or was yesterday just an extraordinary episode of his ongoing series, ‘Stupidity: The Special Edition’? Honestly, what kind of Senate President thinks it’s a good idea to use this kind of reckless language in an already tensed atmosphere? This is the kind of character the security agents should invite for questioning instead of the APC attacking @PeterObi #shame”
