President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently presiding over his first Council of State meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. The gathering, which serves as an advisory platform for the President on key policy matters, features the attendance of former Presidents Muhammadu Buhari and Goodluck Jonathan.
Former Heads of State Yakubu Gowon and Abdulsalami Abubakar are participating virtually in the meeting. The Council of State includes a mix of past and present leaders, such as the Vice President, Senate President, state governors, and other high-ranking officials.
This meeting, the first of Tinubu’s administration, occurs amidst public discontent over economic challenges and recent government policies, including the removal of fuel subsidies. Notably absent from the meeting is ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, who has expressed support for recent protests.
According to Daily Trust, President Tinubu extended special invitations to his ministers to provide insights into the administration’s strategies, allowing the Council to offer informed guidance on the nation’s future direction.
