The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has issued a stern warning to citizens sharing images of Brigadier-General MS Adamu, linking him to the alleged maltreatment of Seaman Abbas Haruna. The DHQ cautioned that such actions could lead to legal consequences.
In a statement released on Monday and signed by the Director of Defence Information, Brigadier-General Tukur Gusau, the military emphasized that Brigadier-General Adamu is not connected to the case. The statement urged the public to refrain from making false claims or sharing Adamu’s pictures, which could infringe on his rights.
The DHQ also reminded the public that a committee set up by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, is investigating the case. It asked citizens to wait for the committee’s findings and avoid prejudicing the investigation with speculation or misinformation.
Brigadier-General Adamu retains the right to pursue legal action against individuals or organizations sharing his pictures in connection with the case. The military reaffirmed its commitment to the rule of law and assured Nigerians that the outcome of the investigation would be made public once concluded.
