The Federal Government has successfully received 148 Nigerians who were repatriated from the Niger Republic. The Lagos Territorial Office of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) confirmed the arrival in a statement shared on social media Thursday.
The returnees, who arrived on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, were assisted by the International Organization for Migration (IOM). The group consists of 120 adult males, nine adult females, 10 male children, seven female children, and two infants.
Despite a brief delay caused by heavy rain, the returnees were safely transferred to the biometric registration center for documentation. The process involved collaboration with key stakeholders, including the Nigerian Immigration Service, the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), IOM, and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
