Bayo Onanuga, President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, has reported a decline in food inflation in Nigeria, highlighting notable drops in the prices of key food items such as yam and tomatoes.
In a post on X, Onanuga detailed the recent decrease in food prices, particularly in Lagos markets. He pointed out that the cost of a large basket of tomatoes, which was previously around N150,000 at the Ketu market, has now reduced to between N55,000 and N60,000. Similarly, the price of a basket of habanero pepper (rodo) has dropped from N55,000 to approximately N25,000.
Onanuga’s comments reflect a positive shift in the food market, suggesting relief for consumers amidst ongoing discussions about food inflation.
