Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has banned the collection of illegal levies in markets across the state. The only permitted charges will be developmental and environmental levies, which will be regulated by the government.
In addition, the governor announced plans for a bulk purchase initiative through the rebranded Gateway Trading Board. This initiative aims to provide essential goods at lower prices to Ogun State residents. The governor also pledged to create a market enforcement task force to prevent illegal taxes and intimidation by touts, and offer low-interest loans to support market traders.
