The Bayelsa State Government has called on security forces to promptly arrest and prosecute those responsible for the killing of Francis Paleowei, a 400-level Sociology student at Niger Delta University (NDU) in Amassoma.

The government also urged the Paleowei family and the Obrigbene community in Ekeremor LGA to remain calm, assuring them of its commitment to working with security agencies to apprehend the culprits.

Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, the Deputy Governor, presided over an emergency meeting and assured that all necessary steps would be taken to ensure justice is served. He called on the Amassoma community to cooperate with security personnel and urged community leaders to take responsibility for preventing crime.

Senator Ewhrudjakpo also emphasized that the student community should not resort to vigilantism, noting that the prime suspect has already been arrested. He expressed condolences to the Paleowei family and reiterated the government’s dedication to handling the situation through appropriate channels.
