The House of Representatives has initiated a probe into bribery allegations involving cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, known as Bobrisky, and officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS). This follows accusations that Bobrisky evaded his prison sentence for naira abuse by bribing prison officials, allowing him to serve his sentence in a private apartment.
The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board responded by suspending two deputy controllers of the Kirikiri Medium Custodial Centre, Michael Anugwa and Sikiru Adekunle, for their involvement in the scandal. Additionally, another officer, Ogbule Obinna, was suspended for escorting an inmate out of the facility.
The investigation stems from claims made by social media influencer Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, who alleged that Bobrisky paid N15 million to evade prison time. The House has referred the case to its Committees on Financial Crimes and Reformatory Institutions for further investigation.
