Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State attributed the #EndBadGovernanceinNigeria protest to external influences, highlighting the involvement of children aged 9-14 waving foreign flags. During an assessment of the state’s security, Sani expressed concerns over the innocent residents impacted by the imposed curfew.
He suggested the protest aimed to incite anarchy by exploiting children’s psychology and cultural ties to neighboring countries like Niger Republic. He argued that the protests were not about bad governance or hunger but were hijacked by sponsored elements using uneducated, underage children.
Sani praised security forces for their professional conduct, noting their restraint in dealing with the children involved. He assured that investigations into the matter are ongoing.
Sani remarked, “The sad aspect is that many innocent people are now at home instead of earning their living. The sight of young children waving another country’s flag indicates a well-orchestrated plan to sow chaos.”
He emphasized that the protest exploited Northern Nigeria’s cultural closeness to neighboring countries, misleading children into believing that upheavals in Niger Republic, Burkina Faso, and Mali could occur in Nigeria.
“I want to commend the security agencies for managing the situation professionally, even allowing children to climb police vehicles without resorting to force,” he added. The governor reiterated that the investigation continues to uncover the protest’s true motives and sponsors.
