The Nigerian Patriotic Front Movement (NPFM), Northern Chapter, which is part of the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest, has vowed to continue its demonstrations in Kano State.
Comrade Anas Adamu, the Secretary of the NPFM, disclosed this in a telephone interview with on Sunday.
He stated that the decision to persist with the protest was due to President Bola Tinubu’s failure to address their “minimum demands” four days after the commencement of nationwide protests.
“We are all aware that Nigeria is facing a major governance and economic crisis, which the government of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has, in 15 months, exacerbated,” he said.
Adamu described the President’s broadcast on Sunday morning as an empty speech, stating that it did not address most of their minimum demands.
“We are totally not satisfied with all what the President said in his address to the nation. So, we will continue with the protest because the only thing that is stopping us is the curfew. So, I’m assuring you that as soon as the curfew is over we shall resume our protests,” Adamu said.
“One of our minimum demands is that the government reduces the pump price of petrol to its pre-Tinubu rates (N160 to N200). Not even what is left of the middle class can afford the current crippling rates of between N720 to N1000+.
“We are law-abiding citizens, so the state government imposed a curfew on the state, which is why we suspended the protest.”’
