The Lagos State Police Command has issued an arrest warrant for Dr. Idara Bassey following the tragic death of a 36-year-old woman named Abiola during a buttocks enlargement surgery at a clinic in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.

The news was confirmed on Thursday by Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command.

According to Naija News, Abiola had visited the clinic for a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), a procedure designed to enhance the buttocks by transferring fat from other parts of the body.

Tragically, the surgery took a fatal turn when a nurse, reportedly following Dr. Bassey’s instructions, administered an injection that caused the patient to lose consciousness.

Despite the known risks associated with BBL procedures, they remain popular, with many women in Lagos sharing their successful experiences on social media.

Reports from The Punch reveal that Abiola had left her home in Diamond Estate, Sangotedo, in Ibeju Lekki on Monday, instructing her driver to take her to the clinic. The driver, who witnessed the procedure, informed the police that Abiola suddenly lost consciousness and began gasping for air after the injection was administered.

While the nurse involved has been arrested, Dr. Bassey, the clinic’s owner, is currently on the run. Hundeyin confirmed that the doctor has been declared wanted and is a suspect in the ongoing investigation.
