Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing collaboration with China in crucial sectors such as renewable energy, healthcare, and education. Speaking at the 75th-anniversary celebration of the People’s Republic of China in Lekki, Lagos, Sanwo-Olu, represented by his Deputy Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, praised China as a key partner and friend.

Sanwo-Olu highlighted the successful collaborations between Lagos and China, noting projects like the Lekki Deep Seaport, Lekki Free Trade Zone, and Lagos-Ibadan railway as examples of positive outcomes from this partnership. These ventures have significantly boosted economic growth, job creation, and the quality of life for Nigerians.

The Governor also lauded the contributions of the Chinese community in Lagos for enhancing cultural diversity and enriching the state’s social landscape. He praised China’s transformation over the past 75 years, describing it as a symbol of resilience and vision.

Ms. Yan Yuping, Consul-General of the PRC in Lagos, echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the Consulate’s commitment to further strengthening ties and exploring new fields of cooperation. She reflected on China’s rise as a global leader and the growth in China-Nigeria bilateral trade.

Jaafaru Yakubu, Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Nigeria-China Relations, expressed Nigeria’s readiness to adopt China’s innovative ideas to build a better nation. He highlighted the mutual respect and benefits of the collaboration between the two countries.

The event featured the launch of the China-Nigeria Friendship Publication, a special promotional video, a photo exhibition commemorating China’s 75 years, and the presentation of the China-Nigeria Friendship Contribution Award.
