Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) manager, Luis Enrique, has voiced his sadness following his team’s 2-0 loss to Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. The match, held at the Emirates Stadium, saw Arsenal secure victory with first-half goals from Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka.
In a post-match interview with Amazon Prime, Enrique expressed his disappointment, acknowledging that PSG struggled to compete with Arsenal’s intensity and lost crucial duels throughout the game.
“My feeling is that I am sad. We could not compete at the level that they did, and they deserved to win the match,” Enrique said. He praised Arsenal’s high intensity and defensive resilience, stating, “They got two goals and then they defended in a very tough way and deserved the victory.”
Reflecting on PSG’s performance, particularly the second goal conceded from a free kick, Enrique added, “That’s part of football… We lost almost every duel against a team like Arsenal, who apply intense pressure. If you don’t win these duels, you’re going to suffer.”
Despite the defeat, Enrique emphasized the need to regroup and focus on the next challenge as PSG looks to bounce back.
