The National Judicial Council (NJC) has begun an investigation into federal and state high court judges following conflicting rulings in political cases related to Rivers State. Led by a panel under Chief Justice of Nigeria Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, the probe seeks to address inconsistencies in rulings amid escalating political tensions between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
Justice Kekere-Ekun directed the panel to conclude the investigation swiftly, with a report expected within the week. Additionally, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court will be questioned by the Chief Justice on Tuesday to clarify recent judgments. The NJC’s probe responds to rising public concerns over judicial integrity in politically charged cases.
