The 1994 alumni of the Nigerian Navy Secondary School (NNSS) celebrated their 30th graduation anniversary on Friday by unveiling a multi-million naira sports center at the school in Navy Town, Ojo, Lagos. The facility, named the “NNSS 94 Sports Nest,” includes twin basketball courts, badminton, lawn tennis, volleyball courts, and areas for ground chess, ludo, and hopscotch.

The project, which was initiated 10 years ago, was largely funded by the alumni, with 97% of the contributions coming from members of the 1994 set and 2% from external donors. Arc. Oyebola Amodu, the project committee team lead, expressed pride in completing the project, noting that the idea was first conceived during the 20th and 25th reunions of the set.

Rear Admiral Mustapha Hassan, FOC West Naval Command, who unveiled the sports center, praised the initiative, emphasizing the importance of sports in child development and national progress.

The event attracted former teachers, school management, and dignitaries from the Nigerian Navy, and concluded with friendly basketball matches on the new courts.
