Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has condemned the federal government’s decision to charge peaceful #EndBadGovernance protesters with treason.
In an interview with News Central on Monday, Obi criticized the government’s mishandling of the protest, which had been announced a month in advance. He emphasized that, during his tenure as Anambra State governor, he never ordered the arrest of protesters, stating that dialogue is essential in a democracy.
Obi remarked, “People have the right to protest. When I was governor, I always engaged with protesters, never resorting to police action. In a democracy, it’s crucial to listen and communicate with those who disagree with you.”
