Former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, were among the notable attendees at the International Leaders Forum (ILF) in Chicago. The forum, which runs from August 19 to 22, is being held alongside the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Illinois.
Organized by the National Democratic Institute (NDI), the ILF is a prestigious event held every four years since 1984, bringing together global leaders to observe and discuss aspects of the American democratic process.
Peter Obi shared his experience on X, noting that he was invited to the 2024 ILF along with two other prominent Nigerians and approximately 200 distinguished political leaders from over 91 countries. He thanked Senator Thomas Daschle and the NDI Board for the opportunity to engage with leaders from developing democracies.
In addition to Osinbajo and Obi, former Senate President Ken Nnamani attended the forum. The Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, was also invited, though his attendance remains unconfirmed.
The DNC has featured speeches from prominent figures such as Hillary Clinton, former U.S. Senator; Barack Obama, former U.S. President; and Michelle Obama, former First Lady, all supporting Kamala Harris, the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate.
