On Friday, the wedding of Laila Abubakar, daughter of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and her partner, Saleh Maitala, attracted a host of prominent political figures. The ceremony took place at the National Mosque in Abuja.
Among the notable attendees were Abdullahi Ganduje, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC); Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement; former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar; former Jigawa Governor, Sule Lamido; and the acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Iliya Damagum.
Atiku Abubakar expressed his joy on social media, sharing, “The joy of giving away a daughter in marriage supported by family and friends is priceless. I wish Laila and her husband, Saleh Maitala, a blessed marriage.”

This event follows closely on the heels of a distinguished delegation’s visit to Atiku’s residence, led by former Kaduna State Governor Nasiru El-Rufai, to formally seek the hand of Atiku’s other daughter, Hafsat Abubakar, in marriage.
