Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has cautioned police officers in the state against engaging in partisan activities, warning that such actions could have long-term consequences. He emphasized that the primary duty of police officers is to protect lives and property, not to serve political interests.
Fubara delivered this message during the inauguration and handover of 100 operational vehicles to the Rivers State Police Command at the Sharks Football Stadium in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
He reminded officers of the importance of impartiality and professionalism in their duties, urging them to steer clear of political bias. Fubara stressed that political tensions are temporary, but the consequences of partisan behavior could linger, affecting both the officers’ reputations and their families.
The governor advised the police to adhere to the ethical standards of their profession, ensuring fairness and justice for all citizens of Rivers State.
