A military Mi-28 helicopter crashed in the Kaluga region of southwestern Russia on Thursday, killing all crew members onboard. The TASS news agency, citing the defense ministry, confirmed the tragedy, noting that the incident was caused by a “technical malfunction.”
The crash occurred in a forested area approximately 150 kilometers (93 miles) from the Ukrainian border, according to local officials.
In another tragic event, a Saurya Airlines passenger plane crashed during takeoff at Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport on Wednesday morning. The flight, en route to Pokhara, crashed around 11:15 am local time (0530 GMT), resulting in the deaths of all 18 passengers and crew members. The Nepalese military reported that rescue operations are underway, with the pilot having been rescued from the wreckage, but unfortunately, all others aboard perished. The aircraft caught fire after skidding on the runway, as reported by Khabarhub.
