Salihu Lukman, former National Vice Chairman North-West of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has raised concerns about the government’s excessive spending under President Bola Tinubu, despite the widespread hunger and poverty in Nigeria. In a statement titled, “#EndBadGovernance Campaign: What Next?” released on Sunday, Lukman criticized the administration’s priorities, arguing that they contribute to the nation’s current volatility.
Lukman urged committed democrats across the country to mobilize citizens to channel their frustrations towards reforming Nigeria’s democratic structures. He called on opposition leaders such as Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, as well as sidelined political figures within the APC, to lead efforts in establishing a new, functional political party capable of rescuing Nigeria from its ongoing challenges.
Lukman emphasized the need for a collective effort to reform the political landscape, acknowledging the limitations of the current major parties—APC, PDP, LP, and NNPP—in addressing the country’s pressing issues. He stressed that the growing anger among Nigerians should be harnessed to create a viable political alternative that can steer the country towards democratic development and away from the current trajectory of poverty and starvation.
