Vice President Kashim Shettima is set to lead Nigeria’s delegation to the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, marking the first time in 25 years that a Vice President will represent Nigeria at the event. President Bola Tinubu, who recently returned from trips to China and the UK, opted to stay in Nigeria to focus on pressing domestic issues, including addressing challenges from recent flooding. Shettima will deliver Nigeria’s national statement and attend key sideline meetings. The General Debate will take place from September 24 to 28, 2024.
