The North-East Development Commission (NEDC) has initiated the renovation of the Central Medical Store in Gombe State, which was heavily damaged by fire earlier this year. The new facility will feature advanced medical infrastructure, including a specialized cold storage room for vaccines and a dry storage unit for other essential medical supplies.

During the handover ceremony to the contractor, Rufai Babamanu, Acting Coordinator of NEDC Gombe, stated that the renovation is expected to be completed within the next 12 months. Babamanu expressed optimism about the project’s success and thanked the state government for its cooperation.

Dr. Habu Dahiru, the Commissioner for Health, highlighted the significant loss incurred due to the fire, which destroyed billions of naira worth of vaccines and supplies. He praised the NEDC’s efforts to address the crisis and improve the region’s healthcare infrastructure. Dahiru assured that the state government would fully support the project and oversee its progress to ensure its successful completion.
